" The Reading Half-marathon on the 29th of March, when you did 62.51 was your fastest ever. Was that something you expected to do?"
I knew I was in a lot better shape than my PB of 64:45 of a couple of years ago, which was about two minutes slower.
I was expecting to run quicker than that but with perfect conditions on the day. I was lucky that the guy I ran with (Kiplimo Kimutai of Kenya 62.46)-were pushing each other along. I was really pleased and I am in good shape at the moment.
"You are still very keen to do your times on the track?"
This Summer I want to run well at 5 and 10k. After pacing at the London Marathon I will be away warm weather training for a week then start my track training.
" It was a blessing in disguise that you did not make the team for the World cross-country with your great run at Reading!"
I was gutted not to make the team but in hindsight I was really pleased to run at Reading
" To my mind it is an unequal struggle for the UK runners in the World Cross country when one realises, the vast majority of runners who rush off at the front and stay there, are either living at altitude or spending a great deal of time there?'
For me working full time it is just not possible for me to train at altitude
"You must be enjoying working at Legal & General "
Yes, They are very supportive. Altitude might make that difference but it hard for me to get that.
" You appear to get a lot of success without that anyway!'
