Dwain Chambers won the trial in 10.00 but the British Olympic body said they would not send him but, the Belgrave Harrier served his drugs ban and of course fought for the right to go..
In the trials in Birmingham Highgate Harrier Simeon Williamson was second in the final in 10.03 with Craig Pickering third 10.19 and Tyrone Edgar, who ran for Highgate Harriers for several years before joining Woodford Green and now NEB was fourth in 10.22. Williamson, once coached by Highgate's Juliet Kavanagh and now coached by Lloyd Cowan at Mile End Stadium, has been assured of his place on the plane and Highgate Harriers Press secretary Alastair Aitken recalls that when he talked to Simon Williamson before a Southern League match and after Williamson won his first major title outdoors at the AAA' Junior Championships three years ago Williamson thought it more interesting to go away to another country like Beijing." I am going to try and concentrate on trying for the Olympics in Beijing. I would rather go their than wait for London, He added " If I am still running in 2012 it will be a bonus."
Simeon Williamson, who lives in Kings Cross, is now the fourth fastest UK 100m runner of all time with his quick run in the Trial.
