The Insurance Championships have now been held annually for over 80 years and the competition between offices all over the UK has always been intense but, in recent years, lacked the outstanding athletes of yesteryear. Lord Burghley, Brian Shenton, and Sonnia Lannaman were Insurance Champions Reports Alastair Aitken. She won the 100/200 14.10/30.50. Kelly remarked the next day "It was an excellent meeting and I arrived back at Carlisle at 04.40 on Thursday and will be competing in the Scottish Masters in the weekend.;" To have three Athletics Data standards set in one event had not happened for a few years but it did in the 5000m. Prolific road runner, Legal & General's Nicky Hodges of Dorking Mole Valley, who had won the 5k last year in 16:06.5 this year won the 1500 in a modest 4:25.9. After that his time in the 5k was 16:14.8 with Woodford Green's Richard Holland (49) second in 16:53.2 and Chelmsford's Michael Bridgeland (50) third in 16:54.9. . |
